NVDRS Tape
The base idea is to bring music back to its real consistency. Today our mp3 players are overfilled with thousands of song we will never listen to, so the choice to reduce the available space to 45/60/90 minutes becomes a value because the songs will be something really valuable to us. Also interaction becomes tangible thanks to the tape's holes which provide an iconic and intuitive way to manipulate music.
A player mimicking the affective value owned by a cassette tape should keep the same sustainability principles. However a digital device has a slightly different life cycle and environmental impact. The design process evaluated these issues with great care, introducing a kinetic power supply that makes the device energy efficient.
Materials used for the case are recycled polypropylene or aluminum, snapped together with reverseable joints for an easy disassembling. |

I am an industrial designer, I truly believe design to be the activity that most is projected into the future. It can make people's environment better through innovation and creativity.
I'd like here to quote Dan Norman when he says: 'don't design for the people, design for the task'.
I graduated in Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano university in July 2006.
Now I'm attending the first year of specialization in Industrial Design at the Politecnico and, during the second semester I have been doing a study exchange program at the Design School of Lahti, Finland.
